Talk about a small world. Elaine and I took another Carribean cruise last week and it was terrific as usual. The weather was perfect and "ridin' them seas" was smooth and beea-utiful. Any way, our first port-of-call was Montego Bay, Jamaica. We signed up for an excursion called the "Deluxe Day at the Beach". So we get off the ship at the terminal, and we're in line on our way to the shuttle bus, and who is in line just ahead of us, but everyone's favorite introvert...Sharon Abdo.
I had only seen Sharon a couple of times since high-school, and then only briefly. So now, I travel to Jamaica, and she is directly in front of me. You all remember how shy and demure Sharon was when we were young.....well she's just as you remember(and then some)! She has aged as well as any Angus beef I've ever seen. I guess "fine wine" would be a better analogy. Seriously, we had some big-time fun and all I can say is that she brought back many Milby memories and more. She was with her daughter and granddaughter on an all-girl trip. I fell instantly in-love with her granddaughter, Kaitlyn (who I'm sure is adopted).
The beach was storybook and we had one "different", but entertaining bus ride back. A singing, rapping, rhyming bus driver got some laughs in the beginning, but then, didn't know when to quit, until people started jumping off the bus and handing out ear-muffs. All-in-all, it was a terrific stop, and seeing Abdo was the bomb. She's pretty as ever and conducted herself admirably for someone who had consumed even half as much as she had. Her probation officer told her she could skip checking in that week, so she was feeling kinda loose. She told us she had an appointment to get a "skull & crossbones" tatooed on her forehead when we got back to the terminal. The last we saw of her, she had hopped up on a 30 gallon drum, and was leading everyone in the terminal in a rousing chorus of "Louie, Louie"....Yaah mahn!!
This is in regard to the Drama Dept./Niemi comments - I liked best the play with Kay Oslin, Carolyn Waller and Tommy Cammack (?) - it was also a movie with Rosalind Russell and Robert Montgomery - very well done! There was a head in a hatbox! (maybe Night Must Fall?)

Well folks I'm recovering from a navel hernia repair at my brothers in Houston on the San Jacinto River. Not much going still doing repairs from Ike but almost finished. A lot of flood damage will not be repaired but done away with. Still need to build cover for the tractor. I have bought into Silverleaf time share (I know sucker) but I have been trying to use it often. I try to go some place 3 or 4 times a month when I can. Summer time is tough to get a condo. I need to go to the land at Honey Island and that at Centerville a lot of work to do. I have decided that I'm too old to do it all myself and am hiring a lot of it done but you must be here even if others are doing the work. Time for bed I guess.

Well I'm about to recover from a small navel hernia (there is a fancy word for this but whatever) and it is getting time to start running the roads again. Galveston week after next for a while and then early November to Branson, Mo. for Veterans Day and then to Tyler and Centerville for a few days. Thanksgiving and I haven't thought about where after that until Christmas. I have been tied down since 9/13 for operation and recovery. I will have to stay home and catch up a little around the house. Still have to rebuild the cover for the tractor. Until later - a neighbor just called and needs to borrow some things since I am out of commission still.

Well I got a surprise when I went to the Doctor. I am still restricted to lifting 10 or less lbs. for another 5 or 6 weeks. So I still cann't do much, Oh well I can drive so Branson at least for a week or so. When I get back still doing little things
so as to stay under the weight limits. Try packing for a trip and not lift over 10 lbs. at any
time. What normally takes 15 or
20 minutes to pack runs into hours
An empty ice chest weighs 10 lbs
or at least I decided that I could
lift it empty as well as the empty
suitcase. Pack it while in the
truck bed. Oh I could have stayed
home but that was not an option that I considered. If you want to
do something, you can figure a way
to accomplish the task if you think about it and plan it. I will be home temporarily about the
15th for a short while. I was glad to hear that the hurricane
missed us this time.
