I picked up John Ferguson's e-mail address recently (off an e-mail forward) and decided to see if I could get him interested in contributing info to the blog. (I pursue any and all leads to develop this blog!) I sent him a couple of confusing e-mails about a picture of John and his brother Charles in the '59 Carats program, which is now on the blog. I won't begin to reveal all of my convoluted errors lest you lose confidence in me, but in the process of giving me the correct information, John provided us some interesting information about himself (Milby '59), his brother Charles (Milby '61), and his wife Lareda McKaughan (Milby '59). I hope he will send more as promised, and that John, Lareda, and Charles will make some comments, too. We invite participation from graduates of any of the classes that interacted with the Milby Class of 1960. KD
Now this from John:
I got your email and will give you more info later. I am only home on the weekends as I am working as a construction superintendant building a pharmaceutical research facility in Frederick, Maryland.
Re: the '59 Carats photos you mentioned: I sang "Old Man River" in that show. That was also what I sang in my audition for a Theater Incorporated musical production of Showboat later that spring. I had performed in a production of Damn Yankees there the previous summer.
The picture of the Dixie Six was a jazz band my brother played in. He is the one with the Sousaphone and he graduated in '61. Charles has been a music teacher in various public schools since he graduated from U of H in the middle '60's.
Lareda McKaughan was the Lieutenant of business records in the Coed Cadets and graduated in Jan. '59. We were married in '62. We still have our home in Park Place and our son and his family house sit for us. We are in north central Pennsylvania in the small town of Elysburg. Both of our children graduated from Milby in the '80's.
