Several of you have asked me how to make comments on photos or photo albums. I would love to hear your comments and have been looking for a convenient way to give you that opportunity. Well, here it is.
I will link this page on the lead post. When you click on that link it will bring you here. Just scroll to the bottom of this page, write your thoughts in the comment box, and submit it by clicking the word "post". The link to your comment will appear under the section "Recent Comments" until 10 new comments have been added.
Then check back often on this new page to read the comments of others. I know those who have submitted their photos would LOVE to have your feedback.
CLICK HERE to return to the top of the main section after reading comments below, and/or making your own comment.
OK, Gang - I am going to have to level with you. I NEED you to make comments on this blog.
Of course, to those who comment regularly I have nothing but gratitude - you make my day each time I open and see your name in the recent comments section. Seriously!!!
But, I happen to know many of you visit regularly and choose not to make a comment. There have been 1,045 page views in just the past week alone, but only a handful of comments. I don't want to discourage anyone from "just looking", but how can you RESIST making a comment or two... or three?!?!?!?!
Now, other than my own personal need for feedback and enjoyment of your contributions, it is YOUR COMMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS that make the blog successful. It is that interaction between us all that makes it come alive!
How-to: After every post in the main section, there is a small word "comment". Just click on that word, read the comments that are there, then enter your remarks in the box provided, and submit. (Your e-mail address will not be shown on the blog. There has never been a problem with security or confidentiality as a result of making a comment.)
If you are reading on a page (listed on right sidebar only) the comment box will automatically be at the bottom and you can follow the same steps given above.
And now, there is a new feature on the blog that give you a way to leave comments about photos for others to read. Those who submitted the photos will be pleased to have your feeedback, and others may want to bounce ideas about photos back and forth with you.
Please read the instructions in the post at top of this page. Then go back and view your favorite albums and leave some comments here. Come back often to see what others have to say about the photos and albums.
What more can I say without sounding like a nag or appearing too needy? Please just help me out here. I'll be forever grateful to you!

I was so glad to see the "Sonny" photos that Glenda and George posted. I wanted to attend the event but have been helping my mother pack to move from an independent living facility into an assisted living residence. I was also disappointed at missing out on seeing Wally and Rita again. Rita and I went to Southmayd together. She lived close to Deady, and when we began 7th grade, I wanted to ride my bike to school. But you just didn't ride a bike to jr. high. So I would ride my bike over to Rita's house, and we walked to Deady. That's one of the great things about this blog ... it sparks such wonderful memories.

I just wanted to say, hats off to the Reunion Committee. Bo and I are really looking forward to the 50th and seeing everyone again. Five years have past and a lot of things have happened in all of our lives, good and not so good things. Some will be shared with our old school mates. Thank you again committee for all of the hard and long hours of planning, I know it will be fantastic.

Glenda, what a blessing you have had to attend this ceremony. Bo and I just got through viewing your information and pictures and really were touched by it. I am so glad you were privileged to be able to attend this honorable ceremony.

Hi John, glad you finally decided to join the retirement scene. You have worked long enough, now enjoy the fruits of your labor.

What a great treat to see Thurburn's pictures. He looks almost as thin as he did at Milby. He was always one of our Class of 1960's brainiest people and he put that talent and education to good use. We missed seeing him in April and hope he will come down from the North Carolina mountains for the next reunion.

OK one of you guys, we need to organize a "Boys only" luncheon to show the girls we can do it too. How about a luncheon at Dave and Buster's with a few of the games played after lunch. Or maybe lunch on the Kemah Boardwalk. (After school is back in session though or the crush of kids will ruin the occasion. I am not going to organize this but will be glad to join in for an afternoon's fun with the boys only.

OK Ray, I'll vote for the Kemah Boardwalk. Just let me have some advance notice so's I can work it into my crowded calendar...

Valian's Pizza?
Posted by: Larry Bass | August 13, 2010 at 02:19 PM
Valian's Pizza! Is that still around? I proposed to Hilda after a meal there.
Posted by: Charles Simmons | August 13, 2010 at 04:03 PM
Unfortunately Valian's bit the dust some years ago. I LOVED Valian's pizza. Ed and I went there on our first date, started falling in love over a thin crust bacon pizza. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! (The pizza, I mean. Although thinking about falling in love with Ed is a pretty emotional charged issue as well!!!) So good to read these comments from you guys!!! Karla

Hi Karla, you're so right, IT IS JUST GREAT when someone finds something to bring conversation from the AGED ( notice I said aged, not ages ). I'll tell you what, I AM GAME FOR PIZZA anytime, anywhere ! We are spread across a broad specter of Houston, so someone needs to do the work to find a place centrally located that appeals to a bunch of OLD FOGGIES, oopps, I meant to say old friends ! Mike

Since I haven't lived in Houston in about 37 years (been in Arlington), was Valian's on Main Street near the old Shamrock Hotel? Seems to me that it was on the left as you proceeded southwest on Main.
