I live in The Woodlands, TX with my husband, Joe and our poodle, Luke.
I went to Baylor after graduating from Milby and later transferred to the University of Texas at El Paso (Texas Western College at the time). After graduation I married a man from El Paso and lived there until 1991. We have two children who are both married. My daughter lives in the
I was active in many organizations including the Junior League and teaching Sunday school while in El Paso. I taught in an elementary school and high school math in a special school for pregnant teens.
After getting my master’s degree and a divorce in 1991, I moved back to the Houston area where I was an educational diagnostician in Cy-Fair ISD until I retired in 2000.
I remarried in 1999 and became active with my husband in his insurance business. He has three married daughters.
We have enjoyed traveling beginning with a cruise to the Greek islands on our honeymoon. We spent three months in Costa Rica living with a local family so my husband could perfect his Spanish. We did a home exchange in France for a month. Unfortunately for the couple that was living in our home, it was during Hurricane Rita! We were glued to CNN in
We have been on several trips with all of our children (5), grandchildren (10) and one great-grandson, plus my ex-husband has been included more than once! One year we rented a home on the Gulf near Biloxi and the next year we all went to Isla Mujeres off Cancun. We went to Rome during spring break one year with just the children. They all flew home and Joe and I continued traveling in
Since Joe has Parkinson’s Disease and long distance flying is difficult, we may be staying closer to home for now.

Kay Burg,
Just wanted to let you know that I have good memories of you while at Southmayd, Deady, and Milby. We were in Coeds and served on the school paper together. My Mom was a very active photographer while I was in school. It is good to hear you are doing well.

Gladys,
While you were writing your comment, I was looking at the pictures of your travels. WOW! What wonderful places and pictures. I don't know when you posted them, but I had not see them until today.

Captain Kay of the Coed Cadettes! I was Captain of the Drum Corps at the same time and find myself still in drill teams. My daughter, Kelli Woodruff, is the director of the Panteras of the Colleyville Heritage High School. My husband, Jerry Bridges, and I chaperone annually their trips to competiton.
I'm new at Milby Blog reading and enjoyed "catching up" on a fellow cadette.
The twists and turns of life have led me into a late career change to become the director of a local adoption agency, Caring Adoptions.

Kay, it was great to read about your journey through life to date. My wife, Susan, and I also love to cruise (it took a few years to convince me after being abord an aircraft carrier for three years in the late 60's)! I noted with interest that you and Joe are planning a transatlantic cruise in the spring of '09. We and four other couples are also signed up for a spring transatlantic cruise, too. You all don't happen to be going on the Royal Carribbean's Voyager of the Seas departing Galvestion on April 19th by chance? That's the one on which we're booked! Let me know if you are so that we can get together. I'd really like to meet Joe and visit with you again.
Best wishes for the New Year!
Regards, Don Hannsz

Pat,
Welcome to the blog. Isn't it great? So you are still involved in drill teams. We did have fun, didn't we? I also have fond memories of 6th floor living at Ruth Collins!
Your being director of an adoption agency sounds wonderful and so rewarding.
Best wishes to you in 2009.

It was great to read your bio. You have had a full life. I did not know you were back in Houston. I still remember your mother visiting my mother when she was ill and bringing her roses from her yard. Do you know how to get in touch with Linda Collins? Email any info to me at [email protected] Kathie

Kay, your granddaughters are so pretty, I know you must be so proud of them. I have a precious little granddaughter age 6 that is my little angel on earth. Aren't those gals wonderful. See you in a week at the reunion.
