An e-interview with Rodney Preuit
Karla: Where do you live now, Rodney, and where else have you lived in the past 50 years?
Rodney: We live in Deer Park, TX and have been in our home for the last 30 years or so. We have never lived farther than 15 miles away from Milby.
Karla: Tell us about your family.
Rodney: My family consists of: my wife, Sandra (Hughlett) - a ‘61 Milby grad; Craig, my son, and 4 daughters: Lori, Amy - then Karen and Emily (our twins) - and a bundle of sons-in-law (and ex sons-in-law).
We have 11 grandchildren (most recent is 6 months) and 2 great grandkids.
Karla: So, how about your work life? Where have you worked, and are you retired?
Rodney: I'm still working (and enjoying it!) at Sulzer Turbo Services, La Porte, TX. We are a company that serves major equipment in refineries, chemical and power plants. It's a great place to have raised my family. I've been with this company for 36 years, following an early career in the banking industry. I'm having too much fun to retire from "work" - but suspect I'll really do so in the next 2 years - or so.
Karla: Do you have any hobbies?
Rodney: My hobby has been golf, although I don't play often - but I plan to do so soon.
Karla: What else do you do in your “spare time”?
Rodney: My interests vary, but I am deeply involved in my church (St. Hyacinth Catholic). I am involved in multiple ministries of our church - as well as elsewhere. It's been a major part of my adult life. "Choir" is my favorite ministry - and that was greatly influenced by my singing with the "Golden M" Choir at Milby!!
Karla: What kind of travel opportunities have you and your wife had?
Rodney: While I'm not a frequent vacation traveler, Sandra and I have been to Europe on a few occasions and to Canada and Washington, D.C. along with Ray and Pat Prichard. We’ve taken quite a few of other domestic trips, too. My work life has taken me very often to Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and other Latin America countries.
Karla: Is there anything you’d especially like for us to know about you?
Rodney: I'd like for you to know that Ray and Pat Prichard are our almost-life-long best friends! We love them dearly and spend lots of time with them - especially going to many, many musicals, dinners, etc.
Karla: Anything else?
Rodney: There are so many things that don't come to mind at the moment - but that's not surprising - lots of things don't come to mind these days!
Karla: I hear you Rodney, I hear you!!!
