Well, I'm gonna try to give you my life's story up to now.
After getting by on my “chinney chin chin”, with just barely passing grades, my next step after graduating from Milby was getting a job so I could leave home. My father was a tyrant and I couldn't wait to get out of the house.
My best friend was working at McGregor Bank and helped me get a job there. Long story short and many years fast forward. I went from sorting checks alphabetically to Senior Vice President in a 30 year span. In that 30 years came my #1 marriage and two children, Ken & Loyce. That was a five year adventure. Next came husband #2 and a couple of horses and a pig and a few chickens (no children) and that was a three year adventure. Next came husband #3 and a move to Corpus Christi. That was a very long two year adventure.
Back to ole Houston, working downtown at Continental Bank, and eating once again at James Coney Island. From there I went to a bank off Belfort, Texas Commerce Bank Southeast, where by the way I saw a few ole classmates now and then.
Then came the BIG LAYOFF. I was the right age and salary grade so I found myself in the unemployment line for the first time in my life at age 50 - yikes! Saw an ad in the paper for office manager at an animal hospital and thought, “Wow that sounds like fun!” The fun has now lasted sixteen years and counting. I'm semi-retired and working only two days a week for her and one day a week for my son, who's a dentist with one child named Katelyn (love of my life).
Six years ago Larry Ross and I jumped the broom in the Bahamas. He had sailed from Kemah to the Bahamas all by himself and I got to go and share his journey for a week. When he returned my son bought us a house on Tiki Island and ten months later Larry passed away with cancer.
Today: I’m still here in this big house, my daughter lives here and my son also lives here, and we call it Ellis Island. We all live in different houses by the way. I lost my father first, then Larry, then my Mom. Now it's just me and Lola, my loyal dog.
Every year I take my daughter and granddaughter on a cruise out of Galveston. This is going to be our 5th year. We have a wonderful time and it's my one thing I so look forward to. (Click here to read a hilarious tale about the time Sonny Jones met Sharon Abdo on one of those cruise related outings.)
One other thing - my son was diagnosed with Hodgkins late December ‘08. We are one of the many that have been calling MDAnderson our home. His last petscan showed NO MORE CANCER and we are on our last three rounds of chemo. The power of prayer is not to be denied.
Sharon, xo
(FYI - Sharon's e-mail address contains the term "purplefreek", and she sent this bio to me in purple ink - guess it's her favorite color??? Only fitting to continue with the purple ink here! My favorite color, too! KD)

Hi Sharon, good to see you finally do a bio for all of us to see how you are doing. You have had a eventful life. Sorry to hear about your son's cancer. Yes, there is power in prayer.
You sound like you have had a great life now and enjoying your little granddaughter. I too enjoy my precious grandchildren and especially that little Addie of mine. I hope someday I can take her on a cruise also.
Looking forward to seeing you in April for the reunion.

What, Sharon and Karla? You like purple better than blue and gold? Tsk, we'll forgive you.

Well darn I threw my back out last week and have had to take it real easy and could fix 4x4's or nothing. May try to burn some stuff tomorrow depending on how the back feels. It will be ok just got to behave myself for a few days. I leave Friday for a 4 or 5 day jaunt toward Canyon Lake. A friend of mine had a wreck and I will check on her and the family. Sounds as though it is going to get cold pretty soom so I may spend most of my time in the Time Share condo, I really enjoy my Time Share and go usually 2 or 3 times a month for 3 to 5 days. If anyone is interested send me an email. I go to several places in Texas, Missouri,Illinois, Massachuetts,Georgia,Florida, coloroda as space is available. I think it is supposed to get cold so I may have to cut my jaunt short to come home to protect against cold weather. Until later enjoy retired life it's GREAT.
