Well, at least we will try to help YOU find the answers! Ray regularly receives questions from our classmates, and there have already been a number of questions posed in this blog under various posts. Some of those have been answered within the comments of others.
So Ray suggested that this blog might be a good place to post questions in hopes that someone who reads it will have the answers. It will be both amusing and intriguing to see what others ask. You might say, “YEAH – I’ve wondered about that too!” And you will HOPEFULLY say – “I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT!!!”
Post your questions and answers as comments under this thread, and then return often to see if YOUR question has been answered. We hope you will also come back to this spot to see if you can provide the information that will answer the question of a classmate. It will be fun to see what riddles are solved, what mysteries are unraveled through this blog.

All of my yearbooks were destroyed in the July 26, 1979 flood in Alvin. Does anyone know where I could purchase Deady & Milby replacements? I'd so like to have them to pass on to our 2 kids. Thank you so much!

Billie, I have the book from our 9th grade group at Deady and the 1960 Milby yearbook. I will gladly send them to you and let you copy (Wal-Mart) them, of course you can't read all the old autographs and comments-RIGHT!!

KARLA, HAD A SUGGESTION, SINCE THE 1960 CLASS APPEARS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST VISIBLE AND AUDIBLE OF THE MILBY GRADUATION CLASSES, WHAT ABOUT HAVING AN OFFICIAL 1960 ILLUM... DAY AT MILBY, WHERE THOSE GRADUATES THAT WOULD LIKE COULD OFFER "A DAY IN THE CLASSROOM, HELPING INSTRUCT, BEING OF ASSISTANCE, ETC. I WOULD CERTAINLY HELP INSTRUCT A BAND/ORCHESTRA CLASS. JUST A THOUGHT. ALSO WANTED TO REMIND EVERYONE OF THE SMALLNESS OF THE MILBY BAND IN THE SIXTIES. I REMEMBER WHEN THE BAND SPELLED OUT " M I L K Y" WITH NOT ENOUGH STUDENTS TO MAKE A "B". OH WELL. GLAD THOSE DAYS ARE BEHIND US.

How about the rest of you - care to weigh in on John's suggestion? I have to tell you that secondary students scare me to death! I have never taught above 5th grade. Rug rats and ankle biters are my specialty!!!
However, surely there are some of you with actual teaching experience, or others with depth of subject matter knowledge and an interest in sharing it with teenagers, who would love to roam the halls of Milby once again - this time as a teacher. Let us hear from you! Karla

KARLA, THEY ARE JUST LITTLE CHILDREN IN ADULT CLOTHING, LOL, BESIDES, ECHOFF COULD LOAN US S.W.A.T. ARMOUR AND PROVIDE COVERAGES? "NOT" I THINK WE COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND THE ANNUAL COULD BE SOLD FOR WALLY AND HIS KIDS. WHAT A MARKETING IDEA?

Billie, I lived in Friendswood and remember the flatlands of Pearland and Alvin. A friend living in Alvin during the flood also lost most of his possessions and a house full of Thomasville furniture. Thomasville replaced it all at no cost. I have since moved to the mountains of East Tennessee where flat is a rarity. Today I mentioned your yearbook plight to a friend who lost his Knoxville High School yearbook of 1947. Fifty years later, his wife found one at a local pawnshop. You might also check in some mom & pop used bookstores.

John, Thank you so much for the offer. In fact, I was just thinking about all those yearbooks today & was going to post a request to "borrow" all 6 of the Deady & Milby yearbooks to make copies. So many fond memories I'd like to share with our 2 kids, 4 grandkids, & great-grandbaby next year. "They" sure are getting old. ha.
If anyone else has yearbooks I could borrow, I truly can be trusted to take good care of them & return them to you in a timely manner. Address available through Karla. Thanks in advance!
(Remember winning "most beautiful eyes" in Deady, but don't remember the year or grade.)
For those of you who haven't gone through a flood & lost everything, rebuilding from the studs & refurnishing everything, you are truly blessed!
Bob, Thanks for your suggestion as well. Kingsland, Tx. doesn't have much to offer.

"Most beautiful eyes" would have been High 9. The Deady Pioneer had a lot of categories for "graduates" in its last issue for each semester.

Thanks, Laura. That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Gosh, I hope borrowing yearbooks & photos to copy works out. It would be an answer to prayers since '79.
When Lanny won the National Go-Kart Championship & was in all of those magazines, I got a fortune cookie @ a Chinese restaurant that said, "Good things come to those who wait."
Thanks in advance to all who are willing to be a part of my answered prayers. Hugs to all!!

Wally, it is so great to hear from you! I have been anxiously awaiting contributions from you on the blog ~ both the current news of Milby from one who is there now, and also your perspective on memories of the past. I remember your wonderful sense of humor fondly and hope that you will make more contributions soon. Karla

It's Christmas in September, thanks to my "2 knights in shining armor," Charles Crider & John Echoff. Charles & Dolly met me at the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls yesterday with a heavy bag of goodies! John's book from Deady (as posted on the blog), & Charles' 3 yearbooks from Milby! Charles also had class photos of Park Place plus group photos of the Deady Band & Orchestra. The printer's warmed up to make those copies! Guys, how can I possibly thank you?! I treasure you both!
Charles, Dolly & I enjoyed homemade chicken & dumplings with all the trimmings. When people come to Marble Falls, they always want to stop by the Bluebonnet for some home-style cooking. We had a great visit sharing memories of days gone by. Many of your names were mentioned with fondness, esp. being thankful to Karla for having the love & vision to put this Milby Blog together for all of us to enjoy. "Thanks, Karla. We love you!"
Charles was surprised when I called our waitress by name, as she & our cashier called me by name too. He said, "You know them by name?" I tell people, "You know you're eating out a lot when your waitresses give you Christmas presents." One has even called me Mom for years.
A couple of months ago, God blessed me again with a special visit from Jim & Lynn Verlander. I hadn't seen "Jimmy" since we graduated. Boy, did we cram in a lot of years in a short visit. If someone tried to tell me God doesn't care about the little things in our lives -- they're too late! So if you have a dream or a desire in your heart, don't give up! God cares! Ahh, life is good in the Hill Country!
John, I can't believe what I wrote in your Deady book. (Yes, you knew I'd have to look.) Good picture of you in the front.
P. S. Laura, do you (or anyone else) have the High 9 Deady Pioneer you talked about? May I borrow it for the catagories for graduates? I don't remember if there were photos of those or not. The grandkids would enjoy seeing what their Nonna looked like in the olden days. It's amazing after all these years -- people still comment on my eyes & smile. Yes, life is good.
Enjoying the journey, Billie

Hey you Buffalos,
Did anyone out there register for the April 2008 MS150 bike ride from Houston to Austin? My riding partner did not register before it closed in less than 2 weeks time! He was out of town and thought he could register when he returned. I am just looking for someone that I might know to ride with. My daughter registered, but the last two years she fizzled out and did not ride (said that nursing school just took too much of her time -- no time to train.) Even if there is another class of 1960 Buffalo riding, I probably would not ride "with" you,(I ride slower than most other riders that I know)just like to know that there are others out there that I know or have something in common with. Some one I could look for along the way or at the rest stops. I have registered with the CenterPoint Energy team, but do not work there and do not really know any one on that team. Please let know if you know anyone from our class who may be dong this fun ride. Thanks.

Karla-I can send you photos of recent sporting events at Milby with schedules if you thnik there is an interest. I can also place the Milby campus paper on line (you would have to help with this) and I am doing a feature in newspaper highlighting Milby grads-of all years-if you have someone to profile-please send with photos (if possible) or I can scan from old yearboks in library--although they do not have a complete record--although they should have--plus any message you want in newpaper regarding '60s class I will do - this would work if we can get paper on line on your blog-please advise--wally
P.S. --I would love to have a speaker for my class or classes from anyone who worked on newspaper or yearbook from our class--this person could be work in as a speaker that would fit his/jher schedule--also- we are part of the KHOU TV HS game.com blog--which we just signed on--I will give y ou more as this unfolds--wally sisk wsisk@houstonisd.org

Wally, it would be great to have some photos of recent sporting events at Milby on our blog. Those – along with schedules – could be entered into a “Current Milby Sports Activities” page which I would create on our site. It could be linked from the main page right sidebar. Send them to me as an attachment.
Regarding having the Milby campus paper on line, is there now an on-line site for the paper? If so, I can put a link to that site on our blog. Otherwise, let me know what is involved in setting it up.
We’ll let the blog participants suggest Milby grads or messages from the '60s class they want featured in the current student newspaper. Any ideas, blogsters? If so, send to Wally Sisk at wsisk@houstonisd.org. If you want to be a speaker for Wally’s class, please contact him at that e-mail address as well. Then let us know how it worked out via a comment on the blog.
Finally, Wally, when you get that connection to KHOU TV HS game.com finalized, let me know and I’ll put a link to it on our site. Thanks for your involvement - still needing your bio bit and current photo! Karla
