"These were everywhere and we thought they were mailboxes because we could see mail inside, but we could also other items: bottled water, letters, knick-knacks, etc. Finally we just asked someone if they were mailboxes and were told that these were memorials for a loved one killed at that site. The styles were so varied - many elaborate and many very simple."
