If you read down the names of the characters - left hand side - you will see that this is not your typical High School play. The play was written (in Dutch) by Herman Heijerman in 1899 ..."to address a serious problem caused by the negligence of Dutch ship owners of the times. The production of this play led to significant legislation to address social injustice..."
Mr. Niemi was never one to do the typical, always searching in his own repertoire or looking for new resources to find loftier works that would stretch our minds and talents. Let's hear more memories of Niemi (El Supremo), the drama department (behind the scenes), and onstage....
